Nominations for our 2016-2017 SDMC (Shared Decision Making Committee) have been submitted. The following candidates have been nominated for this principal advisory committee. We are seeking one magnet parent and one neighborhood parent.
Andy Aston is father to two daughters at ROE. He is keenly involved and interested in his children’s education and building supporting learning communities. Andy has experience of IB schools globally having lived in Australia and Singapore prior to Houston. He is a strong advocate of the IB program and the holistic learning opportunities it provides. As Senior Vice President of Turner and Townsend in Houston, he has extensive business experience and has previously served in a voluntary capacity on the Indigenous engagement committee in Australia. As testament to this philosophy of giving back to the community, the Aston family have provided temporary foster care for children in Singapore.
Susana Boker- Magnet Representative
Susana Boker has a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and earned an MBA from Rice University. She has spent more of her career life in Finance and Strategy. While working for the BMW Group she was responsible for launching the MINI Cooper business line, managed the day to day operations for the brand, and developed its long term plan. Susana was also a member of the Executive Board of BMW Mexico. Previously, as the controller at BMW, she developed and managed the company’s yearly budget. After joining Exterran Holdings, Susana was responsible for developing the 10-year strategic plan. She has also evaluated and recommended numerous capital expenditure projects.
Susana has a son who is a magnet student at ROE and will be attending second grade in school year 2016-17. Susana is very impressed and thankful for the education her son is receiving at ROE and would like to contribute through the SDMC to the further development of this great school.
Molly Hale – Magnet Representative
I was a teacher in HISD from 2003-2008. My last four years I was on the River Oaks campus as the Special Education Chairperson and one of the campus Dyslexia Specialists. I served on the Shared Decision Making Committee all four years at ROE. My last two years at River Oaks, I served on the administration team and as one of the campus test coordinators.
I have an undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Administration course work. I believe my previous teaching experience and educational background will be beneficial when collaborating with faculty on the School Improvement Plan, budgeting, staffing, curriculum, and other areas addressed by this committee. I have served on the committee from 2014-2016. I would like to continue serving on this committee as a magnet representative.
Alexandra M. (Sasha) Van Nes – Magnet Representative
My name is Sasha Van Nes, and I would like to serve on the Shared Decision Making Committee. I am a magnet parent of Henry Smith, who is currently completing kindergarten. I am a native Houstonian, educated by HISD (Bellaire High School), and a graduate of Cornell College. I also have extensive graduate level course work and experience in non-profit management. I currently work as a realtor with Greenwood King.
