ROE Alumni Website

Did you know that there is a River Oaks Elementary alumni website?   You can find the link to the Alumni website under Useful School Links in our sidebar.   If you have not visited the site recently, note that there is a lot of new content that has recently been added to it.  In the past, the emphasis has been on the 1960s and earlier.  Now, the alumni website includes more than 1,000 photos from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s, including class photos, photos from all of kinds of school activities, and photos of teachers and other staff members.   There is also an ROE Alumni Facebook group, and you can find the link to the Facebook group on the ROE Alumni website.  Even if you are not yet an alumnus but are a current family at ROE, you may find it interesting to learn about our school’s past and the ROE legacy.

Important Directory & Email Instructions for the 2014-2015 School Year

The ROE PTO is pleased to roll out our new online directory and email platform, My School Anywhere.  But we need your help to make sure transition to the new system is successful!

This new system will allow the ROE community to have access to a secure, online directory in addition to the traditional printed directory. In addition to online access, My School Anywhere provides a handy mobile app which is downloadable to most mobile devices.  This platform will also serve as the primary means of communication between ROE families and ROE and the ROE PTO. In order to make the transition to this new system successful, we need your help to ensure that your family’s information is collected and accurate.

Procedures for Collecting Information:

If you are a returning family who had information listed in the 2013-2014 Directory, you should have already received an email with a link to update and confirm your directory information.  If you did NOT receive this email, please contact .

If you have a new student attending ROE this year or if you did not have any information listed in the 2013-2014 Directory, enter your information using the following link:

If desired, you may choose to block some or all of your contact information from being published in the print and/or online directory.  If you do not submit your contact information, your directory listing will be blank, although your child’s name will still be listed in the directory with their class.  In order to continue to receive emails from ROE, you must ensure that your preferred email address is input into the new online system (you will have the option to keep your email address private).

Accessing the Online Directory:

After we have received, reviewed and compiled all of the information from the ROE community, we will send an email to each family with log-in instructions to access the directory (we are hopeful that this will occur the first or second week of school).  The online directory will NOT be available to the general public.  All data is stored behind secure firewalls and can only be accessed by authorized users with a validated username and encrypted password.  All data is viewed and passed using SSL encryption.

What are the advantages of My School Anywhere?

  • Access to all directory information is at your fingertips via the My School Anywhere mobile app or via the internet at
  • Create customized lists of frequently called ROE friend and family
  • The ability to search by student first or last name, grade, teacher or family name.

Spirit Ads and Business Ads:

The ROE Directory is published by PTO Volunteers and funded through the sale of Spirit Ads and Business Ads which appear in the printed version of the Directory.  Spirit Ads are ads that are purchased by families and typically depict a picture of their child with a motivational message.  To purchase a Spirit Ad for your child, click here:   Spirit Ad Orders   Your Spirit Ad can be a picture or text or both. Many people make their ad by cropping a favorite photo of their child and superimpose text by using photo editing software or Microsoft Word or Powerpoint. If you do not already have software that does this, a good suggestion is to use the free Picassa software by Google. You can download Picassa at

Local businesses may purchase ads in our Directory as well.  To purchase a Business Ad, click here:    Business Ad Orders  Premium Ad placements (tabs, back cover, and fly leaf) sell quickly so reserve yours soon!

Directory Deadlines for Fall 2014:

September 11 – Contact Information due (new or changes since last year)

September 12 – Spirit Ads & Business Ads due

Mid-October – Directory (printed version) distribution via classrooms
